Accept it or not

When we like a particular dish, we are willing to know its recipe irrespective of whether we have stepped into the kitchen or not. LOL!

RECIPE – GARLIC NAAN

Step 1: Prepare The Dough

Measure 3.25 cups of all-purpose flour. Put it in a big bowl. Now add 1 teaspoon of salt and whisk both the items nicely. Keep a stand mixer on a standby mode and use it when you put the following items consecutively:

    • Lukewarm Water
    • Sugar
    • Yeast

Allow it to bloom for 7 to 10 minutes.

Step 2: Prepare One More Mixture

Once you find out that the yeast has gotten activated then add the following in a bowl:

    • Lukewarm Milk
    • Yoghurt
    • Oil

Once these have gotten mixed nicely, sift the flour mixture into this bowl.

Step 3: Put The Main Ingredient – Garlic

Add the grated garlic. Or you can use garlic paste as well. Start adding the flour alongside – 1 tablespoon at a time. Keep on adding it until the dough achieves a nice consistency.

Step 4: Let The Dough Rest

In the end, knead the dough with your hands. Once it comes out to be softened, then transfer it to a greased bowl. Allow it to rest for 1 to 1.5 hours. Make sure you have covered with the kitchen towel.

Step 5: Division Of The Dough

After the required time has passed, the dough is ready to be used. Punch the dough to release the air. Make sure you are dividing it into 8 equal parts.

Step 6: Prepare The Flavour Enhancing Butter Garlic Mix

Heat a pan to melt the butter. Then add minced garlic & chopped cilantro to it. Make sure you are keeping this mix ready to brush the naan with this.

Step 7: Heat The Iron Skillet

Make sure you are using the iron skillet to prepare the naan. It should be heated at medium-high heat.

Roll a dough bowl until it achieves a nice oval shape. It should be 10 to 11 inches long and 6 to 7 inches wide. Stretch it lengthwise with the help of a roller.

Step 8: Cook Your Naan

Now transfer the naan to the heated iron skillet. Do not turn it over until you see the bubbles on the top of it. Before turning, brush the naan with the garlic butter mix.

Step 9: Cook Directly On The Gas

To bring out the nice smoky flavour, cook the naan directly on the flame. Do not stretch this step for more than 15 to 20 seconds.

Not Every Dish That Is Having A Liquid Consistency Is Curry

One of the common misconceptions about Indian food is that all the dishes which do include gravy are curry dishes. But that is wrong. There are some of the Indian dishes which may no doubt do include curry like:

Which secret tips would help you to bring maximum flavour to Indian food?

Loading

According to chef bloggers of the Indian restaurant in Terrigal, “There is one common question which is usually asked by our regular blog visitors which says – ‘How to plan for cooking Indian food?’ Usually, there are so many tips which are followed by the people when they are preparing the Indian food. But in today’s blog, we are going to enlist the common but the most required tips which every person intending to cook Indian food must know.’

These tips are going to be extremely helpful to you since they are followed by every Indian restaurant in Sydney. So without wasting much time, let’s move on to the blog:

Try to observe the colour of your dishes

There should never be a single dish that dominates the menu. There should be many. Try to have variety on your plate. There should be dishes of different colours like:

  • Toor Dal (It is a turmeric spiked curry)
  • Kashmiri Saag or Bhindi Do pyaza (These are considered as the healthy greens)
  • Tomato Chutney or the Tomato Based Curry (The tangy reds)
  • Rice or Yogurt (These are healthy whites)

The palate should have various flavours & textures

Those who are beginners in cooking Indian food are of the view that everything Indian does not need to be doused in garam masala.

For example; If you are including the spicy baby potato in the fenugreek masala incorporating the best taste of the onions, then it is to be made sure that either the simple spinach or the moong daal should be sauteed alongside.

Only one ultra spicy gravy should be there

It is to be made sure that there should be only one ultra spicy gravy at the meal. To make sure that its spiciness can be balanced, there should be some kind of cooling food along with it like the raita or the buttermilk.

Avoid the overuse of the ingredients

I agree that there are some ingredients which do provide a great flavour and taste. But it is also to be made sure that the excessive use of certain ingredients should not be done. It would ruin the whole palate.

For example: If we are talking about the garam masala, then it is intensely flavourful. This could be one of the main reasons that the housewives fo put it in abundance when some relative has to show up. But that is the wrong and the flavour destroying thing to do.

Incorporate some digestive dishes also

If your menu has all the items which may fall heavy on your stomach then you must make sure to incorporate some other dishes as well that aids digestion. And that can only be done if the following ingredients are to be used:

  • Carron Seeds
  • Asafoetida
  • Yoghurt
  • Mint

Place Salad alongside

A salad plate full of sliced refreshing vegetables like the following must be unforgettable to be placed alongside the meal:

  • Cucumbers
  • Onions
  • Tomatoes

According to the chefs of the Indian restaurant in Sydney, “There should be a description of some of the pointers which can help to decide which drink is to be ordered at that particular time.”

Pointers

For Deciding Which Category Of Drink To Be Ordered

  • For hotter food, always consider ordering the Lassi

The chefs of the Indian restaurant in Terrigal are of the view, “If you have ordered hot and spicy food, then make sure you are ordering something cold that goes with it. For example, Lassi or Thandai would go immensely nice with that.”

This could be considered as the main reason why either lassi or thandai is ordered with Naan-Kulcha or the Chhole Bhature.

  • Order Refreshing Drinks With Meat Dishes

When we are talking about the meat then we are talking about the dish which is full of spices and flavours. So for those dishes, it is quintessentially necessary that the refreshing drinks are to be ordered.

For example, Shikanji or Cider would be best. Many people love to enjoy meat with alcoholic products.

Common Favourite Drinks That Go With Indian Food

  • Small Beers

When we are dining on some kind of Indian food, with whom we want the drink to be immensely rich in flavours and support the digestion, then we should order the Beer. It is considered the most adventurous choice when it is considered to be consumed with Indian food.

We still don’t know!

We are not sure whether the taste of the beer goes with the crisps and the crunchy foods.

  • Cider

I know, you won’t consider cider with curry but you are advised to try it out. When we are eating something really hot and spicy, then we should never order hot beverages like tea and coffee. They will spoil the entire taste of the food. The hot and spicy foods compliment better when these are tried with the drinks that have some cooling effect in them.

Many Australians who have visited our restaurant for the first time tried out the Indian food, seeing the menu they thought, ‘TANDOORI or TANDOOR’ Is a recipe. Understand that it is a method of cooking. This type of cooking includes marinating, be it something vegetarian or nonvegetarian.

The tandoor used for making the food is at a very high temperature and this is important to be careful while using it. It is right to say that this method of Indian cooking is nowhere to be seen around the globe.

For tandoor-based cooking, the marinate used is yogurt-based and the desired food items are coated into the same be it chicken, paneer, or any other thing.
