Healthy Indian Dishes Good in Taste and Health as well

Indian cuisine is world wide famous for its rich, spicy flavors and amazing aromas. Indian cuisine has evolved a lot with the passage of time through substantial interactions from Persia, ancient greeks and middle east. Indian cuisine has come to the point where you can get plenty of dishes to spice up any one plate. From non-vegetarian to vegetarian or vegan, Indian cuisine has covered everything for everyone now. Indian cuisine is not famous for its taste only but for its nutritious and many health benefits as well. There are many Indian foods in Sydney which are very healthy. Some of them are:

 

  • Chilla: Chilla is an Indian form of savory pancakes made from the batter of ground lentils or chickpea flour (besan) or can be made from sprouted moong dal also. Chilla batter is added up with other Indian spices and vegetables. It is a versatile dish which can be prepared as per the preference of someone.Chilla is a popular breakfast or snack option in India and is enjoyed for its simplicity, versatility, and nutritious ingredients.

  • Poha: Poha is one of the famous Indian breakfast dishes. It is very quick and easy to make and healthy as well. Poha is made of flattened rice or beaten rice, soaked in water and then cooked for a few minutes with onion, mustard seeds, curry leaves and other Indian spices added into it. It is then garnished with fresh cilantro leaves, grated coconut, and a squeeze of lemon juice for added flavor. Poha is low in calories, fat and cholesterol, while being rich in essential vitamins.


  • Dal (lentils) Dishes: There are different types of Dal (lentils) dishes in India such as Masoor dal, Toor dal, Moong dal, Chana dal etc. It is a staple food item in India. It is a versatile and nutritious dish enjoyed by every household in India. It is prepared in many different ways in India.


  • Chaat: Chaat is a famous Indian snack dish. It is a burst of flavors. There are many options of making yourself a healthier version of a chat such as sprouts chaat, moong chaat, chickpea chaat added with cucumber, onion, tomatoes, peanuts, lemon, sauces and other things to add flavors in it. It is a good source of high protein and fiber as well.


  • Raita: Raita is a yogurt made side dish in India. Raita is also versatile can be made in many ways such as Boondi raita made of Boondi added with other indian spices in the raita, vegetables raita in which vegetables such as cucumber, onion and tomato or a fruit raita in which fruits like pineapple, pomegranate or any other fruits can be added. It is a delicious side dish which is also very healthy.


  • Whole grain rotis and Parathas:  Whole grain rotis and parathas are the Indian breads which are enjoyed along with Indian curries, dal and vegetables. Whole grain rotis and parathas made of whole wheat flours or whole wheat grains like millet or sorghum. These bread are high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals compared to refined flour versions.


These are a few healthy Indian food options which you can enjoy in a good Indian restaurant in Sydney. These Indian dishes are easy to make at home as well.
